ASDA PFS Trial - A First for Wire Tech

One of the UK’s largest supermarket brands, Asda, has introduced Wire Tech into their Wolstanton petrol filling station in Staffordshire and two further PFS trial stores are planned.

“This is an important breakthrough for Wanzl and for Wire Tech in the PFS market,” says Asda Account Manager Gareth Wynn. “We are delighted the attributes of our versatile Wire Tech system are being recognised in the convenience and PFS formats where the customer experience is becoming increasingly important.

Senior Manager for Small Store Formats for Asda, David Tyrer, said that Wire Tech offered a number of benefits which had been taken into consideration in the trial selection process.

“We have limited retail space available to us in forecourt shops therefore efficient use of space is of paramount importance. We are trialing Wanzl Wire Tech because we believe that it enables us to increase our sales floor yield – increasing the amount of space to the merchandising of products”

“Retailing on the forecourt is also about creating impulse selling opportunities. If we can create attractive and impactful store environments, then we believe this will be good for business.  Shelving systems and product displays in general play a huge part in delivering that vision” said David.

Wanzl have supplied four 1400 mm bays of Wire Tech with square gondola ends, with 400 mm base and 4 over-shelves to the Wolstanton store. In addition to Wire Tech, Wanzl have also supplied a queue management solution and merchandising system, with various ancillaries to vary the offer as required.
