The flagship store for iconic UK retailer giants, M&S has won two prestigious Retail Week Interiors awards – all with the help of Wanzl.
The flagship M&S Westfield store at the London Olympic site won ‘The Vinci Food and Supermarket Design of the Year’ and ‘The Patton Best Department Store of the Year’ awards.
M&S Account Director for Wanzl Group, Clive Jury, said: “We are delighted that Wanzl have been able to contribute to M&S winning these important industry awards.
“The recognition of the shop design as ‘best in class’ by the industry endorses the approach that we have taken to creating a leading edge, well-designed look that delivers a memorable customer experience in a traditional food hall environment.”
Retail Design Manager for M&S, Chris Sampson, believes the new look presents the quality of M&S Food and Wine in an environment that is more deli than supermarket. He said that the new look also associates with Marks & Spencer’s stated commitment to ethical and sustainable product sourcing – achieved within ‘an altogether more visually interesting and engaging’ retail experience.
“Working with Wanzl, we have been able to continue using its proven wire-based food hall shelving, introducing timber elements which give a warmer and more sophisticated appearance to the retail space.”
The Westfield store was the first in the Marks & Spencer portfolio of food halls and Simply Food stores to receive the makeover, which has since been introduced to around 300 of the brand’s 700 outlets.
